Babyland General Hospital, AKA the birth place (literally) of the Cabbage Patch Kids, is the stuff that dreams are made of...if your dreams are seriously freaky/hilarious. BabyLand is where you can witness a teenage boy deliver a baby doll from "Mother Cabbage." True story. As true as Goats On A Roof, a literal general store in Georgia where goats, like, live on a roof. Just one of the magical things you can see on your way to BabyLand.
Georgia is astounding.Anyway, the following video clip is an older version of what Warren and I witnessed last summer in Cleveland, Georgia, but the script hasn't changed one iota. And yes, this is a video of a "Cabbage" "giving birth" to a doll. Amazing.
Long story short, I say this all to introduce the newest issue of the Southern Review, where you can find my essay "BabyLand." The whole issue is dedicated to the glory that is Americana.
